La educación y formación formal del Dr. McGlothan es ejemplar. Después de obtener a un bachelor’s degree de ciencia en biología molecular de la universidad Pacific Lutheran en Tacoma, Washington, él ganó su grado médico de la University of Washington School of Medicina en 1990. El Dr. McGlothan entonces terminó una implantación en medicina interna en la Facultad de Medicina reputable de la universidad de George Washington y una implantación de la oftalmología en la Howard University; las dos escuelas se basan en Washington, D.C..
